German Physicians Strip to Protest PPE Shortages

We are facing an enemy that has hit us on an unprecedented scale.

Therefore, we are allowed to be as unconventional as possible to make our voices heard.

In a move that has got tongues wagging and eyebrows to rise, a group of German doctors have chosen to strip down.

Now don’t get the good doctors wrong. They disrobed for a worthy cause and not to feed your naughty eyes!

Due to the shortage of personal protective gear and equipment, the doctors are posing nude, often donning only a stethoscope.

Their protest is aptly named ‘Blanke Bedenken’ which when loosely translated means ‘Naked Concerns.’

While calling for the government to do more to get masks, protective clothing, and disinfectants, the doctors encouraged citizens to donate any extra PPE to the medics.

Do you think this unexpected move by the doctor will drive the government and citizens to procure more protective gear or it didn’t amount to anything?

In a horrific turn of events that has left the whole nation reeling with shock, 68 veterans died from the coronavirus.

According to officials, 68 veterans who lived at the state-run Holyoke Soldiers in Massachusetts home died after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Termed as the ‘deadliest known outbreak’ among US long-term care centers, it left dozens of veterans sickened

Among the sick are 81 employees and 82 residents of the facility.

While federal and state officials are trying to uncover what happened, there are fears that the patients were denied suitable medical care.

‘It’s horrific,’ said Edward Lapointe, whose father-in-law lives at the home and had a mild case of the virus. ‘These guys never had a chance.’

The facility’s head has been placed on administrative leave although he claim that staffing shortages contributed to the crisis and that state officials knew about the situation.

With the state’s top prosecutor thinking about legal action, who do you think between the facility superintendent and the state officials should be held accountable for the incidents?

There is no love lost between China and most countries in the world and the political fallout resulting from the coronavirus pandemic is deepening.

With Germany and the US leading the onslaught while calling for investigations and compensation, it was only a matter of time before other countries joined the bandwagon.

Scott Morrison, the Australian Prime minister has defied the Chinese and defended what he called ‘an entirely reasonable and sensible call for an investigation’.

This is after China fiercely criticized Donald Trump’s claim that China could have done more to prevent the virus from spreading.

Embracing the same view as other nations have been doing, Morrison said that Australia ‘will of course continue to pursue what is a very reasonable and sensible course of action’.

China’s ambassador to Australia warned about consumer boycotts and which an Australian minister called ‘threats of economic coercion’.

Even as Beijing warns Australia that relations might be ruined beyond repair, do you think more nations should speak out against China?

What would the world do without fast food?

This was made clear after police were forced to initiate crowd control measures after a near stampede at a popular fast food joint.

Coming after New Zealand eased restrictions on Monday, this was the chance of a lifetime-to eat the food they have been craving.

The country has permitted selected cafes and restaurants to open, leading to the rush.

According to a spokesperson for Burger fuel, the first day of the re-opening saw their stores ‘inundated with a stampede of customers, way beyond what we had anticipated,’

At one Auckland burger joint, the crowds got so huge that the police had to be called.

Are there restrictions in your area? If they are eased, would fast food joints be among the first places you will rush to?

President Donald Trump has never been the one to shy away from blowing his own trumpet when the occasion presents itself.

Just recently, Trump has economic stimulus check printed with his name before they were sent to Americans.

Now, the president has penned a gushing letter to nearly 90 million Americans complete with his jagged signature.

The one page letter is printed in Spanish on one side and English on the next.

In classic Trump style, the letters, which are arriving in mailboxes all over the country are not short of gusto that the president is known for.

It is clear that Trump is not afraid of personalizing his government’s response to COVID-19.

With the election looming in November, do you think the president is milking every opportunity to entice voters to his side?
