The Design Thinking and Lean Startup Models Are Broken. Here Is the Innovation Vortex!

I love Design Thinking and Lean Startup but their visualization models are broken. When the actual goal is continuous innovation, it makes sense to use a more innovative model: The Innovation Vortex.

Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Do. Or do not. There is no Try

- YODA.

I can tell myself a million times that I don’t care what others think, but when it comes down to taking action on things I want to pursue, there is that blockage from the worry of failure.

But you don’t fail if you try something and it doesn’t work out. That’s not failure, that’s just not getting to the top of the mountain yet.

We have this small (well I don’t know if I’d call it a mountain,) but anyway, we have this small mountain back home called ‘the devils bit’ it’s a short climb to a point that leads to steeper, more mountainy climb to the top. I always went to the top, why would I start and not finish?

Except this one time I climbed it with two friends and when we got to that flat, level ground, they wanted to rest there and turn back, with no intention of going to the top. I resisted and kicked up at first, explaining why would only go halfway?

However, typically I gave I and strolled back down with them. Almost a waste of time.

Should I have climbed to the top myself and let them go down?

The lesson I learned was that not to climb the mountain myself but, if you’re going to climb a mountain, make sure you’re with people who will race to the top with you.

Company, I have learned is everything. The wrong company, however, can be worse than doing it alone.
