Your Education Is Only Worth What You Can Do With It

Your education is only worth what you can do with it. Sometimes getting rid of the old makes room for new growth. I’ve talked with more than a few health care providers that have degrees that they thought would enable them to help people. Turns out that really wasn’t the case for them.🤔
.
Some of them pivoted out of traditional educational programs when they realized it wasn’t going to enable them to practice health care the way they wanted to. Others finished the degree, but then continued on along a different path for learning and use the degree for “credibility” with the public, but practice very little of what they learned from completing their degree. 🤷🏻‍♀️
.
We seem to have come to a point where we think education is the answer to everything. For example, systemic thinking like “everyone needs to go to college to be successful” hasn’t served everyone well. Many people are burdened with heavy debt and have a degree they don’t use. 🤦🏻‍♀️
.
Yet we see more education still being touted as the answer. Someone doesn’t agree with me? They need more education. Need a job? Go get more education. Got problems? Educate yourself! I agree that learning is good, and should be a life long practice. However, what can we do with what we learn is an even more important question that we should be asking ourselves. 🤗
.
In order to get the results we want we have to be willing to explore all the ways to get it. Not just the ideas that someone told us might work. Not just the ideas that we know about and look good in theory. Learning comes in all shapes and forms. We need the ideas that we can base a plan off of, take the action and then measure our results. That may mean seeking out new information and applying it even when its not what we want to hear. We may have to go outside the main system and work individually. Then we have to accept personal responsibility for our choices. 💥🙏🏼🤗
.
Systemic ideas have blossomed through recent years with less focus on individualism. What’s good for one must be good for all isn’t a great life practice. Assuming everyone can use the same solution or holds the same desires, wants and needs that can be met with the same solution isn’t effective. Joining in on a group assuming it will meet all your personal desires, wants and needs because we think it shares the same problems as us is also ineffective. Then when systemic ideas don’t…
